A Delightful Raconteur

tree BY CHRIS ROMANO, TUFTS STUDENT 1975-1979, INFORMATION SERVICES MANAGER - HELMS, MULLISS & WICKER, CHARLOTTE, NC
I first met Tony in 1977 when I spent my penultimate semester at Tufts in London, but we became very close 20 years later when, at the behest of the late, dear, Doc Collins I started the Alumni Newsletter. Tony jumped into the project with his usual boundless enthusiasm and was the catalyst that drew so many alumni to contribute to the newsletter.

Over the years my wife and I spent many evenings with Tony at his favorite Irish Pub in Harvard Square where he's regale us with his stories of a life in the theatre. I'd spend a few evenings fixing his recalcitrant computer, and of course we'd go to the Arena to see Tony's work.

The last time we saw him was a year ago in Atlanta at the home of his dear friend Kate, shortly before he fell ill.

My career has taken me far from the theatre, but when people ask why I majored in drama, the answer is very simple: because I got to spend time with characters like Tony Cornish.
