Tony Has Passed Away

tree BY MICHAEL SHEPLEY AND KATE WENGER BLAKESLEE
Dear Friends,

Simon Cornish called yesterday (Tuesday, July 5) to say that Tony died suddenly. He'd had a bout with pneumonia over a week ago, necessitating a stay in the hospital, but returned to Denville Hall. Yesterday morning, he took a turn for the worse and went quickly.

There will be a small, private funeral, and a memorial of some kind in the coming months, definitely in the U.K. and perhaps in the States. Maybe we can all meet somewhere in honor of Tony and share our reminiscences. In the meantime, please post your thoughts here.

It has been extraordinary for us to be in the intersection of so much kindness, from all parts of the globe. Linda was able to tell Tony that his students and friends were sending messages of love, and Tony appeared to understand: a tear ran down his cheek. Although the money raised was not used for his care, the love and emotion that surged forward in the past few weeks no doubt surrounded and comforted him. How could it not?
